Dural HiFi and Home Theatre
Store
We started out as Audiocom HiFi back in the mid ‘70’s and were owned by a
Canadian dude. He sold the business to me (Steve) in 1980 and soon after, I
changed the name to Eastwood HiFi - a naming geographical masterpiece, as
long as the business remained in Eastwood.
Which it didn’t.
In 2012, the owners of The Eastwood Centre told me that they wouldn’t renew
my lease as we didn’t fit the “profile” of tenants they wished to inhabit the
shopping mall. When asked to clarify, I was told that only people from a certain
part of the world were welcome as small business tenants (Woolworths were
obviously exempt). They will probably deny this but I’m sure I have a
clandestine recording of the conversation tucked away somewhere in my
archives.
Regardless, it got me off my arse and made me look for alternative premises.
That brings us to Dural, a countrified, almost tranquil area North West of
Sydney where I was able to procure a storefront in an industrial complex which
we have fitted out with two demonstration rooms and a till (both essential
items).
Since we moved here, business has tripled so not a bad forced decision.
Over 70% of all sales are now Internet sales, not using the usual shopping cart
as that can lead to heartache on many levels. To order from us, you need to e-
mail or phone in so we know you’re getting exactly what you need (and it will go
to the correct address - couriers willing).
We also have guys who can design a full Home Theatre system with projection
and discrete speakers (not my choice as I’m a big floor-standing fan).
So, we sell all manner of Home Theatre and HiFi gear from most major
manufacturers. We don’t guarantee the absolute best pricing as there are a lot
of Internet “cowboys” out there who are not authorised dealers for the products
they sell products procured from all sorts of dark places. With Yamaha for
instance, just check on their website to check if they’re actually a Yamaha
Authorised Dealer. If not, avoid them like the plague!
